Language Courses

SWEDISH 6-16 years

The Swedish School’s complementary Swedish is geared towards those students attending Swiss, French or International schools and who want to deepen their knowledge of the Swedish language. The purpose is to give students who live abroad a possibility of becoming active multilinguals. Language is of great importance to the personal identity and cultural belonging. We work with the Swedish language, culture, literature, history and geography. Traditions and customs are also important parts of the programme. As usual we follow the Swedish national curriculum and we work in small groups with professional committed teachers.

Instruction is carried out at a number of different schools in and around the Geneva area. For more information about our education, please request the national curriculum, the schools detailed work plan as well as the application form.

Those students who attend the course at the premises of the Swedish School may also opt to attend the after school activities which are open 12.30-18.30. On Wednesdays we also offer English and choir activities.

SOFIA DISTANS 12-16 years

We offer coaching for secondary education students who opt to study Swedish via Sofia Distance Learning. Student who study at Sofia Distance Learning follow the same curriculum as the students at the Sofia School in Stockholm. When the school year start the student will recieve a plan for the year and can thus prepare for the year to come. The plans clearly state what is required for a pass grade. After completed studies the student will receive grades.

Our tutor is competent and committed and the students are well supported in their studies, both from the tutor but also from fellow students. Coaching takes place at the Swedish School 2 ½ hours every other week.

SWEDISH FOR BEGINNERS 6-16 years

For students who do not use the Swedish language actively in their every day life we offer beginners courses. We still follow the Swedish curriculum and hte goal os to enable the student to integrate one of our regular complementary Swedish groups. The course is held at the Swedish School.
